Supreme Court of South Sudan on Monday dismissed the petition presented against the Nation Election Committee by political parties to hold elections on June 30.
Chief Justice Chan Reec Madut while announcing the judgment says the nullification of the election for three years caused the dismissal.
Justice Reec clarifies that they dismissed the petition because the defendants addressed the plaintive when the general election was cancelled.
The Chief Justice continues that the declaration to conduct general elections without population census to determine the number of constituencies was unconstitutional.
He cites failure by defendants to meet legal requirements for democratic free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections, violating the National Election Act.
