WES government, WFP launch market monitoring system

Western Equatoria State Agriculture Ministry in collaboration with World Food Programme or WFP on Thursday launched the first market monitoring system in Yambio.
 
South Sudan World Food Programme head Shaun Hughes says the system aims to connect small farmers to access markets for their produce to improve food security in the country, Radio Anisa reported.
 
The officials donated market monitoring tools to help display data produce in all counties, analyzing and identifying markets by the help of WFP webpage using mobile internet.
 
State Agriculture Minister West Yugule appreciates WFP’s cooperation to realise commercialization of farming in the state.
 
He appeals for continuous help in rehabilitation of feeder roads to facilitate access of produce in remote areas.
 
Deputy Governor Sapana Abui while opening the programme urges local farmers to work hard, form associations and improve the quality of their products.
 
The speakers observe that Western Equatoria State could become South Sudan bread basket if partners would come in with more supports.
