United Nations Development Programme or UNDP Resident Representative discloses plans to further accelerate its engagement on development activities in South Sudan.
Toby Lanzer in a statement on Tuesday says UNDP in the coming months would work with the Ministry of Labour and key institutions in seven states to ‘twin’ civil servants from neighbouring countries with their counterparts in the young country.
He adds that the Programme would expand its collaboration with the Global Fund against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Mr Lanzer pledges that other agencies in the UN family in the country would continue to work on important development initiatives particularly in agriculture, education and health.
He adds that UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Children’s Fund and World Health Organization together with UNDP are expected to continue spearheading development work.
The Resident Representative says ‘since independence, UN and its agencies support South Sudanese and key institutions of the world’s youngest country and continued throughout the crisis since December 2013.
