Public University Lecturers’ General Assembly is organizing to meet the President of the Republic physically over arrears issue.

Academic Staff Association Acting head Philip Finish Apollo says their meeting resolved to clarify to President Salva Kiir Mayardit issues affecting them as he might have been misinformed.

Assistant Professor Dr Andrew L Athiba calls for a mechanism put in place for their arrears, saying they would convince President Kiir that they want their money now not tomorrow.

One of the lecturers Loku Wani Lodu observes that there is no positive respond to their demands. Other officers doubt receiving new salaries as they did not get arrears.

Another lecturer, Dr Michael Mogga, accuses the Finance Ministry of over deducting that their money, demanding payment of their arrears.

He laments that the country may not expect good products from students because lecturers are not happy because they are poorly paid.

The assembly announced postponing their strike until July and waits to decide later if their demands are not implemented.
