IOM conducts biometric registration to confirm IDPs’ statistics

The UN International Organization for Migration or IOM is conducting biometric registration between April 21 and 29 at protection of civilians’ site in Bentiu, Unity State.
 
The UN update in a statement on Monday says the registrations aims at confirming the number of internally displaced persons or IDPs seeking protection and those coming for humanitarian assistance from Mankien-Mayom due to food insecurity and flooding.
 
The update says as of 16 April, estimated number of civilians seeking safety in six Protection of Civilians sites is 117,604 including 52,908 in UNMISS base in Bentiu.
 
It added that there are 34,420 IDPs in Juba UN House, 26,596 in Malakal, 2,374 in Bor, 944 in Melut and 362 in Wau.
