The referees officiating Yei secondary schools football and volley ball tournaments agreed to start working on Thursday after a students’ strike in a match between Rash and St Joseph Secondary Schools on Tuesday.

The competition came to a standstill on Wednesday when semifinals were expected to be played, a day after the committee reported few indiscipline cases since its start last week.

County Sports Committee Chairperson Afimani Gobfine told Radio Easter on phone that some players beat up referees, liners and one of the committee members after the match.

He says the students accused the referees of biasness in the match.

Radio Easter learnt that as quarterfinals started on Monday, security personnel were brought in to counter any misbehavior including fighting in the tournaments.
