Western Bahr El Ghazal marks World Water Day 25 days later

Western Bahr el Ghazal Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Committee on Wednesday marked the World Water Day supposed to have been celebrated on March 22, 2015 with a call for keeping water safe and consuming economically.
 
State Rural Water Supply Director Sebit Vetrino says celebrating World Water Day though late creates public awareness about maintaining and protecting water sources, Voice of Hope reported.
 
He points out that about 40 percent water hand pumps in rural areas are broken down leaving beneficiaries without access to clean water.
 
UNICEF Representative in Western Bahr El Ghazal State Paula Nuer cries out the need for schools to have clean water sources to avoid infections.
 
She appeals to the State Infrastructure Minister to cooperate with Urban Water Corporation and partners to ensure that masses are aware about better use of water.
 
Western Bahr El Ghazal State Deputy Governor Zachariah Joseph Garang says government has managed to set water sources in five residential areas of Wau town.
 
He urges citizens to consider using water for boosting agriculture in 2015 to produce enough food to avert looming famine.
 
The belated celebration at Dier Akok Primary School in Wau drew over 5oo students from ten schools from various parts of the state.
