A contagious skin disease known as scabies has infected at least 213 inmates of Wau Central Prison.
Wau Central Prison Director Caesar Tombe told Radio Voice of Hope on Saturday that the prison authorities with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross or ICRC launched five-day treatment campaign to avert further spread.
The source attributes the cause of scabies to congested bathrooms, sleeping spaces and poor hygiene at male wards.
Mr Tombe adds that the prison administration has agreed to transfer some inmates to Raja to minimize congestion.
The Skin disease outbreak was first reported in 2013 re-occurred this year in Wau Central Prison that accommodates about 491 inmates.
