Yei River County Legislative Council on Wednesday passed a by-law to regulate the roaming animals such as goats and cows ahead of crop planting during the rainy season.

The by-law empowers security organs and local chiefs to take an action and charge law violators, Radio Easter reported.

The Council Speaker Cosmas Lasuba Kasiano told the media that the by-law aims at minimising conflict between animal keepers and farmers in the society.

County Assistant Commissioner for Agriculture Edmond Taban Gogo welcomes the Council’s decision, calling on farmers to embark on cultivation.

The passing of the by-law to regulate movement of animals marks the closure of the council’s 2015 first sitting.
