United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or UNOCHA reports more than 2.4 million children under the age of five received the oral polio vaccine in the first round of National Immunization Days in seven states of South Sudan.

In a statement, UNOCHA says humanitarian partners continue to scale up response to needs of vulnerable people in the conflict-affected states.

The statement adds that health partners updated their mass casualty plan and pre-positioned trauma kits and emergency medicines following continued fighting in Bentiu, Unity State.

OCHA also reports ongoing biometric registration exercise in Bentiu Protection of Civilians sites for new arrivals.

The health partners confirm a total of 43 cholera cases including three deaths in Eastern Equatoria State since February 11, 2015 and that surveillance shows no more new infections.
