Members of Western Bahr El Ghazal State Legislative Assembly on Monday presented a case to the Constitutional Court in Juba over what they termed ‘coup’ against the former speaker Andrea Mayor Acho by Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan.
Speaking after presenting the case to the Court, Speaker Mayor accompanied by several legislators and Wau County SPLM Chairman Anthony Charles Berende cited serious violations of the State Constitution.
Local Government and Law Enforcement Committee Chairperson Bona Gardensio accused Governor Zachariah of unconstitutional removal of Speaker Mayor, Assembly Committee Chairpersons and MPs overthrowing and replacing them as he wishes.
Legislator Gardensio said Western Bahr El Ghazal State Assembly is waiting for an appointment for court session as the Constitutional Court studies the case.
He expressed confidence in the validity of the case, saying they have ample evidences to corner their Governor.
CRN could not reach Governor Zachariah for comment on the lawsuit.
