Political parties criticized the President of the Republic assent to amendments of the national parliament to extend government’s and Legislative Assemblies’ lifespan for three years.

National Alliance Secretary-General Martin Aligo Abe told the press in Juba on Monday that President Salva Kiir’s move proves that the executives and legislators are only concerned of staying in power, not achieving peace.

Mr Aligo argued that the extension of the term of office of the president and the Assembly is unconstitutional and should be through political parties and civil society organizations.

National Alliance Secretary-General called for inclusive national dialogue conference to discuss and agree on the evaluation of the peace process, national roadmap for peace with clear goals and timelines.

The representative said the conference shall discuss and agree on the formation of a broad-based interim government to implement the peace program.
