National government and World Health Organization or WHO experts formed a Polio Certification Committee to endorse the country polio-free.
In a statement, CRN obtained, the Committee is expected to declare that South Sudan can manage any possible polio case that might arise by conducting emergency response plans.
National Health Ministry Expanded Program for Immunization or EPI Director Anthony Loku Kirba said ‘the certification is to ensure South Sudan is a part of the global push to see polio eradicated everywhere, for everyone and forever.’
WHO South Sudan, Representative Tarande Manzila hails the committee for showing willingness and volunteerism to make a polio-free legacy in the country for all future generations.
The statement traces the Committee formation initiative to a ministerial decree in December 2014.
