African Union or AU Peace and Security Council and Commission composed high-level ad hoc committee to strengthen Africa’s support to Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s mediation of South Sudan conflict.
The committee formulated on AU meeting held of March 24, 2015, composed of the Heads of State of Algeria, Chad, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Africa to elaborate terms of reference and determine its work plan in support of IGAD soon.
The Council requested the AU Peace Commission to extend all necessary support to the committee to enable full participation for a lasting solution to South Sudan conflict.
The Council expressed deep concern at the prevailing situation in South Sudan; condemning all acts of violence and violations of international humanitarian law and human rights.
