Western Equatoria State Acting Minister for Gender, Child and Social Welfare urged women in Nzara County to play peace making role to change the society.
Pia Philip Michael in his remarks during the International Women’s Day commemoration at Nzara County on Wednesday, urged mothers to train their daughters on how to handle women’s responsibilities in families.
Director-General in the same Ministry, Justin Ebere, recognized the rights of women and their efforts for peace in the country.
Nzara County Inspector for Gender, Grace Alkana, lamented that gender-based violence is the main source of poverty in the community, urging community leaders and parents to collectively work against it.
Nzara County Commissioner Elia Richard Box encouraged all women to work hard for their rights and unity.
He warned men against beating women and rapping underage girls.
