South Sudan Cobra Faction of David Yau Yau released 250 child soldiers including four girls, one as young as nine years old in Lekwangole of Greater Pibor Administrative Area of Jonglei State.

In a statement CRN obtained on Monday, the new release is the third that brought the total to 1,300 children since January 26, following a peace deal between the Faction and the government.

UNICEF Representative in South Sudan, Jonathan Veitch said 200 out of the 660 released children in Pibor and Gumuruk were reunited and that many other child soldiers, including girls remain in cattle camps in the area.

He said UNICEF is deeply disturbed by the hundreds of children abducted in Upper Nile and Unity States, targeted and rounded up by Government and Opposition forces.

It condemned the violation of human rights, calling on all parties to release the children.

National Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission and the United Children Fund or UNICEF were working together to care and reintegrate them back in their communities and families.
