Fire burned to ashes three houses of Holy Family Lainya Parish Fathers’ Quarters in Yei Catholic Diocese at around 2:15 AM on Wednesday, leaving the missionary priests homeless and stranded.
Speaking at the scene on Wednesday morning, Vicar General Fr Zachariah Angutua Sebit expressed sadness for what happened, encouraging fellow priests to continue their mission amidst temptations, Radio Easter reported.
He urged the parishioners and the government to collectively support the victims.
Lainya Commissioner Huda Michael Laila condemned the act as the first of its kind in the County, terming it barbaric and ‘criminal offence’ and that perpetrators would face the law.
