Plan International South Sudan emphasized the need to address the gender gap between male and female and establish a platform for equal opportunities.

In a statement marking International Women Day on Monday, it said a lot of effort is required to support the girl child acquire quality education, enjoy child hood and has equal opportunities as the boy child.

The Organization said as the world comes together to celebrate the Day, people must all come together to champion the rights of women and girls in challenging situations.

Plan International South Sudan Country Director Daniel Muchena said women globally were deprived of their full citizenships and their bodies were used as objects, calling on human rights defenders to be brave to challenge inequalities and advocate on their behalf.

He said it is the duty of everyone in the society to ensure that all children enjoy and productively spend their childhood for sustainable peace and development in South Sudan.

The Director said women groom the children and also play a big role in national development, let us therefore support and respect them by creating opportunities that will realize their dream.
