South Sudan on Monday joined the World to commemorate International Women Day under the theme: ‘Make sustainable peace in South Sudan’.
United Nations World Food Programme or WFP Advisor Zahra Lillian Mukosi calls on women to celebrate their contributions in the country, expressing concerns to promote peace and look at the big role they play to develop the nation, Radio Bakhita reported.
The Advisor called on South Sudan girls to embark on education and work together with boys for lasting peace in the country.
The official said Gender Ministry and other government sectors survey indicated that women and girls suffered more than any other boys and men in the country in wars.
She disclosed opening up programmes like food for education and girl’s incentives to help female children enroll, stay in schools and continue with their studies.
