Yei River County women leaders of Central Equatoria State are lamenting that rape and defilement cases are increasing amidst massive awareness campaigns.
County Gender, Child and Social Development Assistant Commissioner Victoria Nasera Augustine told Radio Easter on Saturday that her office recorded rising rape, defilement and early marriages even after February massive awareness they conducted.
She, however; hopes that the forthcoming International Women Day campaign on March 8th will reduce the alarming rates.
Yei Women Association chairlady Nadia Rosaline Gabriel has lamented that the ongoing conflict in South Sudan is increasing the number of widows and suffering of children.
She urges warring parties to admit mistakes made and reach peaceful settlement to end violation of women rights.
