A member of Lakes State Legislative Assembly criticized UN Security Council’s threats of imposing sanctions on the warring parties should they fail to sign an agreement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this week.

Former Speaker Isaiah Alier Mashinkok on Thursday described the sanctions on South Sudan leaders as unnecessary and an ambiguous proclamation that could weaken the economy of the young nation, Radio Good News reported.

The MP accused UN Security Council of portraying imperialistic coercions in its attempts to broker peace in South Sudan.
