The Headmaster of Upper Kumu Model Primary School in Kumbur Payam, Heiban County of Nuba Mountains was attacked on Wednesday with a knife while counseling his pupils on discipline.
Anggalu Chaluga Kitinye explained that three men entered the school compound and the attacker shouted ‘hate speech’ before drawing out a knife to stab him, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
The headmaster, who sustained minor injuries on three fingers of his left hand, told parents and communities that every pupil deserves to be disciplined.
He said he was receiving treatment at the local hospital and feeling better, adding that the attacker was arrested to face the law after one day in custody.
The attacker came to the school after taking his 14-year-old son to the hospital on Wednesday morning whose urine had blood; something he said was caused by teachers beating the boy.
Kumbur Payam Police Director Musa Bashir Teka strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a threat to government institutions.
He urged the community members not to take the law into their hands, but report problems to legal authorities.
