Belgium Ambassador to South Sudan and Uganda called on the conflicting parties now in negotiations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to accept signing a peace deal this time.

Allan Hansan described the situation in South Sudan as much worrying, urging the warring parties to put down their weapons and think about development of the young nation rather than personal interests, Radio Anisa reported.

He told the press in Yambio that Western Equatoria Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro and Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala invited him to acquaint himself with the development taking place in the state.

Mr Hansan said ‘I want to see the actions of the government, the church and NGOs to promote what is possible to give schools adequate teaching to children, give health facilities to the people in need, build roads to develop agriculture and trade so that this fertile land can produce more and supply other parts of the country that are not fertile’.

The Ambassador said he was glad to visit peaceful a part of South Sudan doing its best for the development compared to some conflict-affected regions.
