Two senior personnel in the Directorate of Wildlife Conservation in Eastern Equatoria State were arrested for stealing impounded Elephant tusk from a store.

Wildlife Conservation Director in the State Local Government and Law Enforcement ministry Dusman Achila Mullah identified the suspects as James Anen and David Khamis.

Mr Mula said the two senior suspected officers were arrested after a search in the store after a tip off from a Boda-boda rider who approached him after carrying the stolen ivory.

The Director said the suspects would be charged in court and dismiss from duty after serving their prison sentence.

Mr Achila noted that officers who are entrusted to take care of Wildlife defy their duties due to lack of training and awareness.

The stolen Ivory, weighing about 16 kilograms was among the pieces impounded in 2013 from poachers in Kapoeta East County.
