Japan pledges 80 million Dollars to support conflict victims

Japanese government has decided to provide 80 million US Dollars to support Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs and South Sudanese refugees in the neighbouring countries.
 
In a statement CRN obtained on Friday Japanese Ambassador to South Sudan Takeshi Akamatsu said the 80 million Dollars would be provided through various international agencies; approximately 56.7 million is meant to help IDPs while 23.9 million for refugees in Ethiopia, Sudan and Uganda.
 
He added that the new pledged funds would be announced at the High-Level event on humanitarian crisis in South Sudan expected to be held on February 09 in Nairobi, Kenya.
 
The statement concludes that the funds would be made available for implementation in a timely manner in accordance with South Sudan Crisis Response Plan issued by the Humanitarian Country Team.
