A resident from Alubi area of Hieban County strongly criticized concerned authority for failing to provide medicines for injecting animals.

Ramadan Abuanja Saeid told Voice of Peace on Thursday that Hieban County authority is taxing them every Saturday with the aim of purchasing medicines for their cattle but failed to fulfill the promise.

He accused the County authority of misusing the funds collected from taxes, arguing that it would be enough to buy medicines because every animal in the market, including poultry and cattle are all taxed.

Mr Abuanja appealed to the authority to consider cattle keepers in their struggle to keep animals by providing veterinary services.

He also urged them to provide pesticides to cultivators for protecting their seeds from termites and other pests during the planting season.

Mr Abuanja reacted following an outbreak of animal diseases in the county around August 2014 that killed scores of goats and affected many cows.

Voice of Peace could not reach the Animal Resources Secretariat for comments concerning the issue.
