Presidential peace delegation headed by the national Transport, Road and Bridges Minister on Thursday visited Yambio, Western Equatoria State to convey the peace message.

Simon Majok Mijak at St Mary Parish thanked the people of Western Equatoria for warmly welcoming them and that President Salva Kiir Mayardit expressed his glory to God for peaceful Christmas celebration, Radio Anisa reported.

He added the South Sudan is politically independent and that without economical independence the young country would not achieve development.

The minister said in the president’s message, peace should not be only discussed between the government and the opposition if negotiations start at all levels.

He said President Kiir confirmed that elections would be conducted this year on time as the Transitional Constitution stated.

The minister told the people that the president expressed insecurity concerns that scared international partners from providing development assistance and deterred international investment in the country.
