Yei Catholic Priest at Christ the King Cathedral on Wednesday told Christians to give thanks to God first for His protection before resorting to organize parties.
Fr Emmanuel Lodongo Sebit in his homily during the thanksgiving mass on the eve of the New Year, said Christians should show gratitude to God and ask for His care in 2015, Radio Easter reported.
He said organizing parties to drink, eat and dance was not enough in celebrating the New Year, urging Christians to always remember God and be close to Him.
Fr Lodongo said celebrating the New Year requires that Christians share the gifts of God including love, joy, wisdom and grace.
