Torit Catholic Apostolic Administrator on Thursday appealed to teachers to support girls’ education by giving them a chance to continue learning up to the university level.
Monsignor Thomas Oliha noted violence of rape and sexual harassment on girls at learning intuitions, calling on teachers to protect and respect girls to allow them continue with their education, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He urged parents not to force their daughters to early marriages, terming the practice ‘a violation of girl child rights to education’.
Monsignor Oliha condemned killings of innocent women in Torit villages, urging the perpetrators to refrain from the act for females to enjoy peace.
The Apostolic Administrator in his Christmas message described the killing of innocent women and girls in Torit and other parts of the nation as abomination against the will of God.
