UN warns 2015 ‘tough year’ for humanitarian operations

In a statemnt CRN obtained on Tuesday, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or OCHA warned that 2014 is a rapid deterioration and sad year through out, expecting 2015 to be a tough year for humanitarian operations in the world.
 
OCHA Director of Operations John Ging described the global humanitarian operation’s outlook as ‘very, very bleak’.
 
He said they had about 52 million people in humanitarian need and that they are ending the year with over 76 million people.
 
The Director lamented that crisis-affected people were losing their lives with millions subsisting in terrible misery and inhumane conditions.
 
He added that they do not afford to see the situation continuing, but need to work to see an end to these conflicts raging on and intensifying man-made disaster that could be ended, calling for political solutions.
 
The Director expressed sadness over lost of 85 colleagues this year in over 230 attacks on humanitarian workers.
