The European or EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management on Monday announced that it is increasing its assistance to South Sudan by seven point eight million Euros.
According to a statement CRN achieved Christos Stylianides said the new funds would provide shelter, water, hygiene and protection to conflict-affected South Sudanese at home and in Sudan.
The diplomat said EU humanitarian funding for South Sudan stands at over 273 million Euros in 2014.
The Commissioner said they support the overall refugee response in the Horn of Africa with around 50 million Euros including aid to South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya.
The official also said they are giving two million Euros in emergency funding to assist Libyans forced to flee their homes because of worsening violence in the country for the provision of food, shelter, medical assistance and psycho-social support.
