Jur River County Commissioner condemned the killing of newly appointed chief of Kangi payam at Aleltonj on Friday.
John Arop Apai said a group of youth believed to be from Aleltonj Payam ambushed and killed Kangi Payam Chief Chau Malual Ton on his way home from Kangi area in Ator, Voice of Hope reported.
The Commissioner revealed that the chief’s assassination is a revenge attack following the fight last week between the chief’s family and the youth from Aleltonj in which one of them was killed.
Commissioner Arop said the killing of the chief is unacceptable and that the police should apprehend the suspects.
Kangi MP Simon Athai called for deployment of more police forces to Kangi and Aleltonj areas.
The late Chief Chau Malual was appointed last week when County inaugurated new Kangi Payam.
