Residents of Ombachi in Otogo Payam of Yei River County after a two-day workshop called for more awareness campaign to remove stigma, discrimination and denial against people living with the virus.
Councillor Kesi Nelson said the training which drew people from the Sub-Bomas equipped him with knowledge on how to educate others on HIV prevention and handling of positive persons in the community, Radio Easter reported.
Ombachi Acting Executive Chief Justine Guya Festo appreciated the Boda-boda Union and partners for the capacity building, appealing for more awareness campaigns.
Boda-boda rider Cosmas Luwate said they need proper training about the disease because they are at risk of accidents which may lead to blood infections.
The residents who talked to Radio Easter on telephone interview on Thursday, appealed to the government, partners and citizens to collectively respond to the increasing infections of HIV through community education.
