Eastern Equatoria government refuted as false allegation, SPLA in opposition claims of attack along Juba-Nimule highway on Tuesday night.
State Information minister Mark Akio Ukinbul said only an attempted robbery occurred between Kerepi and Moli along the highway but not rebel act, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He disclosed that one person was wounded in the incident that happened at 11:30 P.M. and the trucks were burned.
The state minister described the opposition claim for the attack on the vehicles as a total lie and propaganda to cause fear among citizens in the state and that two vehicles were empty returning from Juba to Uganda.
He termed the allegation as a ‘big lie’, saying the opposition cannot claim overpowering military reinforcement, as there was no attack along Juba-Nimule road.
Minister Akio called for calm as government pursues to the suspects of the attack and the enemies of peace in the country.
