The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or UNOCHA pleaded to the warring parties to allow delivery of three hundred and thirty-five thousand metric tones of relief items to different parts of the country.
South Sudan Humanitarian Coordinator Toby Lanzer told journalists in Juba while discussing the humanitarian impact of the conflict and humanitarian achievements in 2014 and their response for 2015, that 16.5 thousand trucks load which need to be transported by road.
The Coordinator disclosed that they would be focussing on key areas to reach people in need and that an estimated 4.1 million people need help next year.
He warned that 2.5 million people in need of humanitarian assistance would be severely food insecure, demanding an incredible amount of collaboration between NGOs, UN agencies, SPLM in opposition and the government.
The Coordinator lamented that millions of people would not get help if there is no road access.
