Community Empowerment Progress Organization or CEPO Executive Director on Friday lobbied for female United Nations or UN Secretary-General come 2017 to see gender mainstreaming in the world body as a portrayal of gender sensitivity.
Edmund Yakani told CRN that CEPO discovered that since UN establishment a long way in 1945, there has never been any female Secretary-General and that it would be wise to realize gender sensitivity by replacing Ban Ki-Moon with a female when his term expires as opposed to lip service.
He cited several potential women leaders in Latin America where the seat is expected to go in 2017 and even in Africa including South Sudan.
Mr Yakani listed among others African Union or AU head of Peace and Security Council from Senegal, former UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Central African Republic, AU Commission Chairperson and current International Criminal Court Chief.
The Director called on South Sudan presidency to consider vice presidency or premiership for women to reflect gender sensitivity.
Mr Yakani revealed that CEPO was expecting the current vice president to have been a woman, challenging male domination in the executive and legislature.
The CEPO Executive Director appealed to women to contest for presidency in future democratic elections to discredit male domination in South Sudan.
CEPO and United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS conducted a three-day media training on documenting and reporting sexual violence in South Sudan.
