Mapel traders on Saturday said commodities prices rose highly.

Deng Forgood told Don Bosco Radio in a telephone interview that Mapel traders sell bar of soap between 25 and 30 South Sudanese Pounds and that a small bottle of cow milk rose from two to five Pounds.

Mapel resident James Yata said 25 kilograms of flour now cost 300 Pounds and 50 kilogram cost 400 Pounds.

He said the commodities sold currently at Mapel markets were old commodities without importing new ones from Ugandan and Kenya due to bad roads.

He appealed to traders to consider poor people who cannot afford to buy food at the high prices.
