SPLA Division VI crocodile faction on Friday displayed three new military tanks and other weapons in a demonstration in Yambio town of Western Equatoria State.
Chief of operations Brigadier Mobil Malual Dial said that the SPLA soldiers were marching in Yambio Freedom Square to display military equipments they acquired recently for defence and protection of citizens and property, Anisa Radio reported.
He stated that the national government pledged to supply Western Equatoria with ten military tanks, but only three were received.
Brigadier Malual describes Western Equatoria a peaceful state free from tribalism.
Western Equatoria State Acting Governor Sapana Abui appreciated the national government for equipping SPLA soldiers to support their national duty.
He added that even though there is no insecurity in the state, the army must be ready any time for surprises.
The Acting Governor called for more forces to be deployed along South Sudan borders with Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic.
