Tonj South Mayor in Warrap State on Thursday ordered traders and the entire community to reduce prices of local commodities including meat, okra, potatoes and short poles.
Marko Mabior Ajiec commanded that one kilo of meat must be reduced from 20 to 18 South Sudanese Pounds because cows are not imported from the neighbouring countries, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He discouraged selling of local commodities at high prices, calling on communities to report to the office those who continue selling at high prices.
Mr Mabior said commodities brought from Ugandan and Kenya are sold at high prices because of bad roads, disclosing plans to reduce all prices soon.
The Mayor appealed to sellers to respect the laws and regulations, warning that police will arrest and jail violators for three months.
