United Nations Mission in South Sudan Resident Coordinator for Relief, Reintegration and Protection section reported that the Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs in the civilians’ protection site in Bentiu, Unity State are still in terrible condition.
Dark Segaar said the site located in a flat plane is so bad that it is flooded with little improvement they can do at the moment.
He said they can only improve the drainage every weekend during rainy season to remove as much water as possible.
Mr Segaar said they were finalizing a dry season improvement plan with humanitarian partners for necessary improvements for IDPs to live in a more dignified.
The Coordinator disclosed plans to relocate about three thousand people in Tomping Protection of Civilians Sites to UN house on Wednesday.
He added that they are building further extension to host five thousand people in Malakal base and three thousand IDPs in Bor civilians’ protection sites to better conditions next week.
