AIC Primary School wins ‘Race for survival’ in Torit

African Inland Church or AIC Primary School emerges winner of Thursday race for survival tournament organized by Save the Children.
 
Aneno Loise, the fastest runner in the 16 by 400 metres relay with her colleague Stella Itongo and became the first to cross the line bringing success to AIC Primary School.
 
AIC team of sixteen athletes won the race in about 15 minutes with a difference of five minutes ahead of Christ Bright Academy.
 
Lona Poney of Airport View, Sara Aber of Torit Model and Rebecca Naboyi are among talented athletes with potential prospects.
 
Airport View, Torit Model and Christ Bright Academy Schools fell in the second to fourth positions respectively. 
 
The pupils also presented their dreams and concerns of poor roads, insecurity, forced marriage, rape and lack of basic services to Eastern Equatoria authorities.
 
Youth and Sports Acting Director General Elviji Grato was impressed by the talents the children displayed in athletics and public speaking, regretting that the state still faces challenges to establish enough play grounds for children.
 
She promised to ensure concerns of children reach the relevant authorities for redress.
 
Save the Children Programme Operations Director Machiel Pouw said the event marks the United Nations Day to Eradicate Poverty celebrated on October 17 every year to give a chance for children in the toughest places of the World to be heard.
 
The occasion under the theme: ‘Healthy families, healthy South Sudan’ took place at Torit Freedom Square.
