South Sudan women undergoing four-week training in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State organized by the Committee for National Healing, Peace, and Reconciliation called for joint efforts on peace and reconciliation in the country.

In a statement, Western Equatoria State Women Chairperson Mary Nginzo said women constitute 60 percent of the nation’s population, urging others to mobilise communities to work together with men towards true reconciliation.

The Committee Secretary General Reverend Bernard Suwa said they must have many women in the reconciliation process to avert more suffering.

The training explores causes of South Sudan conflict, concluding that they can be addressed through dialogue, creating an inclusive environment of gender equality.

The training started on October 1 running up to October 31 attracted 24 women participants from all ten states and Abyei Area.
