Eastern Equatoria Health minister said the three states of Equatoria and Northern Bahr El Ghazal are vulnerable to Ebola epidemic in South Sudan.

Margaret Itto shared the observation with Emmanuel Radio saying Ebola cases were reported in Democratic Republic of Congo and Marburg, a related venereal disease was also cited in Uganda.

The minister believes the closeness of the two neighbouring countries to the three states of Equatoria and Northern Bahr El Ghazal poses a threat of Ebola transmission.

The minister said the government put screening and isolation facilities at border checkpoints to prevent Ebola infected persons from entering the country.

She assured citizens of proper controlling of the Marburg case in Uganda and negative tests of nurses who attended to the victim.

Dr Itto called on individuals to control movements and quickly report suspected cases to health facilities, saying even if the diseases did not reached South Sudan, it is a global threat.

The State Health Minister narrated the genesis of Ebola as from eating bush meat, stepping on droppings, vomits and remains of fruits eaten by wild animals.

Dr Itto advised the public to be concerned of the scourge.
