World Food Programme or WFP on Friday demanded for prompt release of its staff member unharmed.

In a statement CRN obtained, WFP South Sudan Acting Director Eddie Rowe said they did not hear from their colleague for almost 24 hours and that they were extremely concerned about his well-being.

The statement added that WFP is working to secure the safe release of its staff member, urging national government and security forces to do everything within their power to see the captured aid worker freed quickly in good health.

WFP calls on the warring parties to recognize and respect impartiality, neutrality and independence of humanitarian workers delivering assistance to South Sudanese in dire humanitarian need.
