Gender Equity and Social Change Acting Director in the State Ministry of Education on Tuesday during the sexual exploitation campaign at Dr John Garang Memorial Secondary School in Torit, advised girls to desist from exchanging gifts for sex.
Chandia Paska said the state experiences sexual exploitation at the rate of 60 percent, adding that girls are being abused through money, jobs and exchange for cows, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The acting Director noted that several students drop-out of school because of the abuse, urging them to be watchful about sexual exploitation.
Ms Paska called on partners to organize more sex exploitation awareness to benefit thousands of students in the country.
She urged school children to take care of themselves without compromising their lives for money or commodity, advising them to be determined to make better decisions and say ‘no to sex’.
The Acting Director urged students during the campaign to pass the message and share the knowledge with their other colleagues.
She called for creation of channels to report sex crimes to protect all children from exploitation.
