Yei River County Gender department disclosed plans to pass by-laws that protect children from abuse.
Gender Assistant Commissioner Victoria Nasirah told Easter Radio that the provisions would punish children abusers including imprisoning parents and guardians who subject kids to heavy work.
She explained that the by-laws also aimed at encouraging parents and guardians to ensure that children go to school.
A monthly report by the County’s Gender department showed that child abuse is rising in Yei.
