United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF in partnership with World Food Programme or WFP implemented a new approach, using aeroplanes to deliver food and life-saving supplies to many isolated children and mothers in ten days’ expeditions.

In a statement CRN obtained, UNICEF’s small specialist teams were running quick operations into remote rural locations of Kiech Kuon in Upper Nile State.

The statement added that the Rapid Response Missions are designed for children to get vaccinated against polio, measles and check for malnutrition to treat with special protein-rich and high-energy foods.

The Missions remind mothers of the importance of breastfeeding and good hygiene for babies and children to avoid illness.

UNICEF’s Kiech Kuon Missions team leader Simon Bol said villages where they are operating were cut off completely from routine services for nine months.
