Government cautions citizens against revenge in border conflicts

Council of Ministers’ regular meeting on Friday resolved to handle border conflicts with neighbouring countries with diplomacy, cautioning citizens against retaliatory actions.
 
Cabinet Affairs Minister Martin Elia Lomur√∂ said South Sudan has five contentious border issues affecting relations, citing Uganda’s being the most important.
 
He warned nationals against revenge actions provoking and damaging South Sudan’s good relationship with Uganda.
 
Dr Elia said the cabinet resolved to maintain the Cooperation Agreement with the Sudan to strengthen security and development.
 
He said the cabinet upheld the need for Juba to continue engaging Khartoum on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement outstanding issues to ensure social and economic security. 
 
Dr Elia disclosed that the Council of Ministers applauded Justice Minister’s human rights’ report on South Sudan.
 
He explained that the report shows the country respects human rights, but requires capacity building to do more.
