The President of the Republic in his address to the 69th United Nations General Assembly in New York, United State of America, urged the international community to exert more efforts to pressurize SPLM/A in opposition to accept peace.

Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny told journalists on Thursday in Juba after returning from New York that President Salva Kiir Mayardit appreciated the Intergovernmental authority on Development for their quick move to mediate the peace process in Ethiopia.

He said President Kiir pledged to work faithfully with the international community to realize peace in South Sudan.

Mr Ateny added that the President earlier instructed government negotiating team in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia to talk in good faith to restore peace in the country.

The Press Secretary accused the opposition of violating the ceasefire.
