Insecurity and heavy rains affected the second round of first division football tournament expected to kick off on Sunday in Rumbek, Lakes State.

State Local Football Association official Malel Anei Mathiang told Good News Radio that sport activities were not progressing well because of insecurity and the increasing rainfalls making authorities to suspend some teams from playing.

He added that other teams would play the second round of the tournament at morning hours due to limited time in the evening.

Mr Malel urged all the club administrators and their players to cooperate with the Association for the smooth running of the remaining matches.

He encouraged footballers to show peace, unity and reconciliation to their peer groups in the society through games and sports.

Homeland FC and Holy Family FC are expected to open the second round of the state football tournament on Sunday morning.
